Do You Or Your Child Think They May Have ADHD?
The doctors at Ricci Psychology Partners offer testing services for those who believe they may have ADHD.
ADHD
ADHD, previously referred to as ADD, is a diagnosis that currently affects 8.4% of children and 4.4% of adults. There are several types of ADHD, including a Predominantly Inattentive Type, a Predominantly Hyperactive/Impulsive Type, and a Combined Presentation, which represents traits of both.
Because there are other disorders that overlap in symptoms with ADHD (e.g., anxiety, depression, other learning disorders), formal testing is required to officially obtain the diagnosis.
At Ricci Psychology Partners, we provide a thorough assessment to help determine the root cause of your current problems.
The evaluation usually occurs over the course of two sessions during which both computerized and examiner administered tests will be given. Additional information is also gathered consisting of behavioral rating scales, observer reports, and grade reports, as well as any other supporting documentation. If there is a concern that another factor may be contributing to the issue, additional tests may be recommended at that time. Following completion of the testing procedure, a comprehensive report is written with a diagnosis along with relevant recommendations for intervention. This report can be submitted to a child’s school to help gain accommodations, when applicable. Furthermore, any therapeutic interventions can be provided by one of our therapists at Ricci Psychology.
